2023 In Review

As we bid farewell to 2023, it’s time to reflect on the significant achievements and milestones that have defined our journey this year at MEA. From noteworthy projects and team expansions to community engagement and industry accolades, the year has been full of triumphs, contributing to yet another successful chapter in our Construction Consultancy story.

Growth

2023 marked an exciting year for growth at MEA. Due to lease expiry, we made our first purchase of an office in Beehive Yard, with the Bath team moving in following a successful fit-out in June. This new space serves as a base that we’re proud to share with both customers and colleagues.

Additionally, we expanded our teams, with the addition of three new members—Rebecca Marney in our Surrey office, Joe Soares in Bath and Alex Neal in Bath. We also celebrated internal promotions, including Tom Killoran’s promotion to Quantity Surveyor in our Surrey office, Lee Feasey’s promotion to Associate in our London office, William Kennet’s promotion to Quantity Surveyor in Bath, and Beth Stone’s promotion to Assistant Quantity Surveyor in Surrey.

Team Building

Aside from smaller get-togethers, two standout gatherings brought almost the entire team together across all offices: a memorable visit to Battersea Power Station in April, featuring a tour and a ride in Lift 109 to appreciate panoramic views of London, and a thrilling afternoon at Sandown Park Races, followed by a sensational performance by the legendary Tom Jones.

Award-Winning Construction

In the realm of project accolades, 2023 has been extraordinary. Highlights include East Quay Watchet receiving three RIBA regional awards and a coveted RIBA National Award. We celebrated Lytle Associates’ success at the Constructing Excellence Awards, with an MEA project, the contemporary house, earning recognition. Elcot Park, another project, was crowned Hotel of the Year 2023 by The Times and Sunday Times Magazine. Seven Sisters Country Park received the AJ Retrofit Award for Listed Building up to £5 Million, and Wales Millennium Centre’s renovation project secured the Transformation of the Year honour at the Cardiff Property Awards in November.

Charity

MEA remain committed to social responsibility by supporting various charities, including Challengers Charity, Julian House and The Richmond Fellowship. Kudos also to our staff who undertook personal challenges to support charities close to their hearts.

Conclusion

As we reflect on a dynamic year, we are proud to have navigated through challenges, celebrated successes, and fostered a spirit of innovation. A warm thank you goes out to our valued clients, dedicated colleagues, and our exceptional team. With an array of exciting projects in the pipeline and on the horizon, we eagerly anticipate the opportunities and growth that await us in the coming year. Here’s to a prosperous 2024!
