MEA Joins The Passivhaus Trust

MEA Clark, part of the wider MEA group including MEA Construction Consultants, is thrilled to announce it’s membership with the Passivhaus Trust (PHT), an independent non-profit organisation leading the industry in promoting Passivhaus adoption in the UK. PHT is a key player in the global Passivhaus movement and serves as the official UK affiliate of the International Passive House Association (iPHA).

Alex Neal, Director of Bath-based MEA Clark, commented, ” The Passivhaus Standard is globally renowned for its rigorous quality assurance in energy-efficient building design. Passivhaus buildings are celebrated for their outstanding energy efficiency, comfort, and high-quality standards. This has spurred the widespread adoption of the Passivhaus Standard and increased international interest.”

The term “Passivhaus” or “Passive House” describes buildings constructed according to a highly regarded standard that sets strict criteria for insulation, airtightness, and energy efficiency. Passivhaus buildings are designed to use up to 90% less energy for heating and cooling compared to traditional buildings, providing a comfortable and high-quality living environment while significantly reducing energy costs and environmental impact. The Passivhaus Institute has established precise requirements for buildings, products, designers, and consultants to uphold the integrity of this standard.

Alex further explained, ” At MEA, we have already completed a number of Passivhaus projects, and have more in the pipeline, we are absolutely committed to supporting our clients’ evolving needs. As the UK moves towards its goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, enhancing thermal efficiency in both new builds and retrofit projects will become vitally important.”
