MEA are very pleased to announce that our new commission as Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors for the extensive refurbishment works at Ladywell Convent in Godalming has now commenced and that planning consent has also now been granted.
Ladywell is the Motherhouse of the Franciscan Missionaries of the Divine Motherhood, and as a Retreat and Spirituality Centre it offers an oasis of peace and tranquillity.
The planned works comprise extensive refurbishment and internal alteration works to the existing Grade II listed residential and conference buildings, including heating and electrical installations, and the construction of two new support buildings.
The project will be undertaken within a two year timescale as a phased project, with the first phase being the comprehensive refurbishment of the St Clares community living accommodation and conferencing facilities, including the accommodating of lay partners welfare facilities. The second phase of the project will include the Portiuncula and Greccio buildings.
The FMDM Congregation are keen to establish a commitment to support environmental sustainability for the whole campus and will explore with MEA the implications and application of this.
MEA are delighted to have been selected for this exciting project, as we already have a proven track record working in the conservation and ecclesiastical sectors, including extensive experience in working with listed buildings. We are particularly looking forward to the home-made cookies during our meetings with the sisters.
