Salesian School: plans in place for the new T-Levels

The introduction of new T-levels in September 2020 offers a great alternative to A-levels for students looking to pursue a more vocational route. Through T-levels 16 to 19-year-old students are offered a mixture of classroom learning and “on-the-job” experience which will assist them in obtaining highly skilled employment, a higher apprenticeship or higher education.

T Levels will follow on from GCSEs and will be the equivalent to three A-Levels. The new qualifications have been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses to meet the needs of industry and prepare students for work. But are how many schools have the facilities in place in order to deliver these new qualifications next year?

Salesian School in Chertsey, Surrey are one of the first schools in the country to be working towards offering the new T-level qualifications as part of their Sixth Form offering. They are one of only 50 providers who have been selected by the government to deliver this new range of technical qualifications and will be offering two T Levels in Digital Production, Design & Development and Education & Childcare.

We are very pleased that planning permission has been granted for their new T-Block. Funding is in place for the first phase of development and MEA are delighted to be providing Quantity Surveying services on this exciting project which is due for completion in September 2020
