MEA are delighted that work has commenced on site and the board is up on the new sports hall project at Guildford County School.
The latest project at the school is the construction of a full size 690m2 sports hall to Sport England standards with new changing spaces, a multi-gym/fitness area, dance studio and storage. The new facilities will enable the School to accommodate the majority of the sport curriculum on site, significantly increasing teaching and learning time while reducing external hire and coach expenses. Additionally it will enable them improve the safety of play and increase the number of sports on offer (including basketball, badminton, volleyball, indoor netball, trampolining, rowing and handball). It will also enable them to host more competitive matches in many sports and cater for a wider ability range.
In addition to the benefits the new facility will bring to the school, it will also provide an accessible city-centre sports hub within walking distance of Guildford mainline railway station, which will be of benefit to community users outside of school hours.
