We are delighted to announce the successful completion of this expansion project at The Abbey School in Farnham, part of the Weydon Multi Academy Trust.
Supported by investment from Surrey County Council, the project forms a key part of their SEND Sufficiency Strategy, designed to address the increasing need for spaces for 11-16 year old students. By expanding from two-form to three-form entry, The Abbey School is now better equipped to meet this growing demand.
The ambitious development included general and specialist classrooms for Computing, Food Technology, and Design Technology, Science labs, Art, Music, and Drama. The school’s sports provision has also been updated, with the addition of a new sports hall, a multi-use games area (MUGA), and new changing rooms. Additional facilities included staff rooms, offices, meeting facilities and a welcoming reception area, creating an inclusive and functional space for the entire school community.
The project, which was undertaken in three phases running from Spring 2022 to Summer 2024, required meticulous planning to minimise disruption and maintain the day-to-day running of the school. The effort has paid off, with staff and students already enjoying the benefits of the enhanced facilities.
Sean Goodall, Director at MEA Construction Consultants, commented:
“We are incredibly proud to have played our role in this vitally important project for The Abbey School. The thoughtful new facilities, tailored to meet the special educational needs of these young people, will support and inspire their learning for years to come. It’s a privilege to continue our partnership with Weydon Multi Academy Trust, helping them create outstanding learning environments across their schools.”
