Weydon Multi Academy Trust

The Ridgeway School in Farnham, part of the Weydon Multi Academy Trust (WMAT), is renowned for its exceptional care and education for students with severe and profound multiple learning difficulties. The school’s playground recently underwent a transformation, resulting in an inclusive outdoor space designed to inspire learning, play, and exploration.
The scope of works comprised remodelling of the existing outside space to incorporate a wide range of interactive features. These include a covered teaching area that doubles as an outdoor classroom, a theatre stage for performances and activities, and a covered pavilion for both structured lessons and free play. Additionally, the space now offers two individual learning zones for one-on-one sessions, a wheelchair-accessible roundabout, and vibrant walls with tunnels designed to encourage exploration and sensory engagement. The project also provides a dedicated football and running space to promote physical activity and fun.
To minimise disruption, major works were scheduled during the school holidays, allowing the school to remain fully operational and ensuring the playground was ready for the Autumn Term.
The transformed space now provides students with a dynamic and inspiring environment for learning, play and development.
