MEA are delighted to be providing Quantity Surveying and Client Representative services to the forthcoming construction projects at the prestigious Great Fosters Hotel in Egham, Surrey which was awarded Hotel of the Year 2018-19 by The AA.
The planned works to this historic building will start with a £1.2 million new build project to provide five new bedrooms suites at first floor, together with associated storage facilities on the ground floor. This will then be followed in September with a £700,000 conversion to an existing Grade 2 listed part of the hotel to provide seven bedroom suites over 2 floors. Both projects are anticipated to take nine months each.
Great Fosters is a Grade 1 listed building set among 50 acres of stunning gardens and parklands in Egham, Surrey. Probably built as a royal hunting lodge in 1550 and very much a stately home since then, Great Fosters is now a prestigious 43 bedroom hotel.
Sympathetically converted in the 1930s by the Sutcliffe family, the hotel possesses a plethora of original details and features including mullioned windows, Jacobean fireplaces, a rare oakwell staircase, authentic tapestries and moulded ceilings.
After almost 90 years of ownership the hotel was acquired by Alexander Hotels, co-owned by Peter and Deborah Hinchcliffe in 2018. Their now five-strong portfolio also includes two hotels in Surrey: the four-red-AA-star, 22-bedroom Langshott Manor and four-AA-star, 44-bedroom Barnett Hill. as well as the five-AA-star, 58-bedroom Alexander House in West Sussex, and the four-AA-star, 38-bedroom Rowhill Grange hotel in Kent.
