This project was completed over three phases. Phase 1, carried out during the summer holidays prior to commencement of Phase 2, comprised alterations and refurbishment of parts of the existing buildings, to provide environmental science laboratory, classrooms, SEN workrooms, and Head Teachers office. Phase 2, representing the major part of the scheme, comprised the construction of a new building which houses sixth form, languages, drama and music facilities as well as a new Chapel and dining room. A new ‘drop off’ area was also completed.
We also refurbished the ROSLA building and procured new modular units to extend the existing modular CDT block.
The new buildings are of steel frame construction and load bearing masonry, piled foundations and reinforced concrete ground bearing slab. The main teaching block roof is clad in zinc. Environmental features include a ground source heat pump, windcatchers, sunpipes, and rainwater harvesting.
Phase 3 was the construction of a new Multi-purpose Sports Hall.
St Andrews School is a Voluntary Aided School for students aged between 11 and 18 years of age. The project brief was to improve existing outdated teaching space, to provide new classrooms, sporting facilities and a Chapel. In addition, part of the brief was to significantly improve vehicular access and to remove congestion from the main road with provision of a new drop off zone within the school boundary. The school is located within a leafy and highly regarded private residential area in Leatherhead.
